I’m picking up:
Road Rage #2
I’m so excited! Road Rage #1 was great, of course. I’m looking forward to reading the next chapter. If you haven’t read it, it’s “combo based” (I don’t know if that makes sense? But whatever) on Richard Matheson’s Duel and Stephen King and Joe Hill’s, Throttle (their first story as a duo, which appeared in He Is Legend: An Anthology celebrating Richard Matheson. Obviously, a story inspired by Matheson’s Duel). Because I’m lazy, I’m just gonna say that USA Today pretty much covers it in one sentence, “It follows The Tribe, a gang of grungy, infighting motorcycle outlaws who run afoul of a relentless homicidal trucker.”
So, if you missed the first issue, pick it up Wednesday along with numero dos!
Rebel Blood #1
The publisher is Image, so that’s already a good sign. The creators are Alex Link (writer) and Riley Rossmo (artist - cover/interiors). Rossmo’s worked on a few comics I’ve read, including, Green Wake (love it, btw) and Cowboy Ninja Viking. (I’m not gonna list off everything he’s done… if you’re really interested just Google him yourself).
I’d never heard of Alex Link, so I Googled him and it looks like Rebel Blood is his first book! No-name writers tend to scare off some readers, but I think that’s stupid. Every big name starts off somewhere, right? Who says you need someone like Grant Morrison or Robert Kirkman or Alan Moore for it to be a good book?
Anyway! Rebel Blood is another zombie book (I know, I know… zombie is becoming the new vampire, isn’t it?), but what separates it from the other zombie stories is that it looks like it’s going focus more on the animals that have been infected with this “zombifying” disease and how they affect the survivors (lolz obviously, not in a good way). So, we’ve got zombie wolves, rats, birds, etc, which umm.. it’s already terrifying just to think about your regular ol’ human zombie, but a zombie wolf? No thanks. Those Resident Evil dogs still scare the living crap out of me. Just… no. Fuck that shit.
Anyway, here’s the preview if you wanna check it out.
